Spoofing AKA Hoax Calls

It has been reported to the District Office that community members are receiving calls from district assigned telephone numbers. When they pick up the phone, it is a recorded message trying to collect a debt or sell insurance. The District is taking immediate measures by reporting these incidents to our telephone service provider, AT&T and the Soledad Police Department. If you receive such a call, please take note of the number that you are receiving the call from and notify the Technology Department at the District Office the following number: 831-678-3950 X 00126 or
00133.

“Spoofing” is the practice of causing the telephone network to indicate to the receiver of a call that the
