October is here! The first trimester is almost over! October is a very busy month for our Golden Eagles. Be sure to check out the upcoming events section and mark your calendars.
This month we will be celebrating” Red Ribbon Week (dress up days), Literacy Night, Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill,, Parent Teacher Conferences and Book Store etc. As these events get closer, we will send you more detailed information! Thank you for your continued support! Together we have made this a very successful start to the year! Go Golden Eagles!

October 3, 2025 and October 20, 2025 - Non student Day
English Language Advisory Committee (ELAC): Our second ELAC meeting will take place October 27, 2025 from 6:00-7:00 pm virtual. We are seeking for ELAC President, ELAC Vice President and DELAC. We want to continue to encourage parent participation at all of our meetings, as parent attendance at meetings is also part of our LCAP goal.
School Site Council Committee Meeting (SSC): Our 2nd SSC meeting will take place on October 27, 2025 @ 5:00-6:00 p.m. virtual Congratulations to Mrs. Rocha for being selected as our Chair and Viviana Argueta, as our Co-chair!
Coffee with the Principal: Join us on Friday, October 10, 2025 at 8:15 a.m. room #2 Coffee with the Principal is held the first Monday of the month. Coffee with the Principal is the time for parents to hear about instructional programs, gain instructional data knowledge, learn strategies to assist their children, ask questions and/or share concerns that will positively impact student academic achievement.
Attendance Committee Meeting: Come join us on Wednesdays at 1:00 p.m. in the Gabilan Conference Room! Each week, a dedicated group of parents and staff meet to plan and organize upcoming events—such as popcorn-and-movie days, otter pop giveaways, and more! This school year, with the input of both staff and parents, we’ve introduced new ways to recognize students for their attendance—weekly, monthly, and by trimester! On September 26, 2025, our students redeemed their first ticket and enjoyed a refreshing otter pop! Our next event will take place on October 10th! Your voice matters and helps us improve attendance—come be part of the team!
Great Shakeout Earthquake Drill: This year's International ShakeOut Day is October 16, when millions of people worldwide will participate in earthquake drills at work, school, or home! At 10:16 a.m. (local time) on 10/16, you can join millions of people across the world practicing earthquake safety.
On September 26, 2025, students had the opportunity to redeem their “Perfect Attendance Ticket”! Yes, just for being in school for one full week, students received a ticket, which they can redeem as follows:
4 - Tickets (X-Box/Video Game Room)
3 - Tickets (Free Screen Room)
2 - Tickets (popcorn and movie)
1 - Ticket (otter pops)
Congratulations to our teachers for reaching the highest percentage of attendance for the month of September, 2025!Our Goal is to reach 98%! Let’s do it!

Thank you parents for all your patience and support as we continue to implement the Pick-up and Drop-off procedures. Remember our number one priority is your child’s safety at all times. Your continued patience and support with following these procedures are greatly appreciated!
As a reminder:
Parents, during the drive-thru drop off STAY IN YOUR VEHICLE.
The front turn around is for DRIVE-THRU Drop OFF ONLY! . It is intended as a safe and brief exit from the vehicle. In an effort to ensure student safety, we request your daily cooperation. If you have additional school related business, kindly park your car at the Community Center parking lot.
When DROPPING OFF your child, drive up all the way to the front of the school entrance to assist with the safe and smooth flow of traffic.
To ease heavy traffic during dismissal,we strongly encourage you to park at the Community Center’s parking lot to ensure student safety.
AFTER-SCHOOL - For your child's safety, please do not ask your child to cross the street while you are stuck in traffic, idling in your car. Kindly arrange with your child to meet you in the Community Center Parking.

Social Emotional Support for our students:
We are starting on our second round of classroom lessons. The next two weeks, the school counselor will be visiting each class to talk about bullying and conflict resolution. The counselor and social worker have started providing individual support to our students, and small group support will begin this month.Red Ribbon Week starts October 27th - 31st, with activities and events happening all week.

This month your child is learning about How to be a good citizen! Also, we are implementing “Leader in Me” and this month we are focusing on Habit #2, “Begin with the End in Mind!” We encourage you to watch the attached videos with your children. Thanks
Accelerated Reader - Every Trimester
Every Trimesters students will be able to receive various awards in AR. Below are the awards they can receive and what they need to do to receive them.
Certificate- For the top AR point earner in their grade
Medal - 1 year ½ of growth in their reading level. A book of their choice from the book vending machine.
Trophy- 2 years of growth in their reading level. 2 books of their choice from the book vending machine.
Plaque- 3 years of growth. 3 books of their choice from the book vending machine.
5th and 6th grade only- first 10 students to reach 200 points by the March 2024 book fair will receive a $20 shopping spree at the book fair. If they reach more than 200 they will receive 5 additional dollars
The criteria for receiving these awards are:
Must pass quizzes with 85% accuracy or higher
Growth will be measured by comparing their starting reading level and current reading level.
Parents keep in mind the following when it comes to students taking quizzes:
Primary are able to look at the book for AR testing (K-3)
Upper are not able to use the book for AR testing, unless its a large chapter book (That will be up to the teachers discernment) (4-6)
There is no quiz taking at home. Teachers will provide opportunities for students to take quizzes in class. There is a monitor password that only teachers have. If you are aware that students know the password please let the teacher or me know so that we can change it.
Book store- Free books will be available during literacy/math nights for parents and students to use at home. Please come to this important meeting to receive yours.
