Student Pedestrian Safety

Posted Date: 10/02/24 (11:00 AM)

Dear Soledad USD Parents and Guardians,

I want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of student pedestrian safety, especially during drop-off and pick-up times. Recently, we had an unfortunate incident where a student was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in front of one of our schools. Thankfully, the student was not seriously injured.  This serves as an important reminder for all of us.

Please advise your children to always use the designated crosswalks when crossing the street, especially in front of our schools. Crosswalks are designed to keep our students safe by providing a clear and secure place to cross, and we ask that parents and guardians reinforce this safety measure at home.

Additionally, I encourage all parents to be extra cautious during drop-off and pick-up times. Please be mindful of your surroundings, follow traffic rules, and avoid parking in places that might put students at risk when walking to or from your vehicle.

Our collective efforts are vital to ensuring the safety of all our students. Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us make our schools as safe as possible.

Sincerely,
Randy Bangs
District Superintendent
